“The best way to prepare for the coming of Christ is never to forget the presence of Christ.”
–William Barclay
Simply wanted to share these words with you this morning that I came across. No profound thoughts added by me.
Also, I wanted to thank you all again for your encouragement the last couple weeks. We were able to get away last week to Whistler for some R&R, which was good after putting Slic down. Then, last Saturday (so just a week after Slic) my dad’s mom passed away. My last grandparent. She lived in Lexington KY and my dad is heading back there today for the service that is tomorrow. My prayer really is for him.
So, now that I look back on Barclay’s words, it really is a reminder to NEVER forget the presence of Christ. As things happen around me and around those I care so much about, I can question where His presence is at times of loss or suffering. I know He is there and yet tears can easily distort my sense of reality and perspective. WOW! My own grieving, in some minuscule way, allows me to glimpse HIS sorrow over my sin. His sorrow over those who refuse to call on Him. I know how much effort I put into bringing comfort to loved ones in their time of loss, so how much effort am I willing to put into saving His children so His sorrow is less? Not even that, but so that His joy is increased.
