Last night I was watching a show on the Discovery channel called “SuperVolcano.” While I don’t need to repeat or summarize the entire show for you, as I read my devotions this morning I recalled a particular scene in the show. A group of men are huddled in a bunker talking about the ever-increasing destruction. One man states that he has given up hope and that their staying in the bunker is merely delaying the inevitable… death. One of the other men asks him, “Do you believe in God?” Sorry, I don’t remember the other comments that followed after that in detail. But that one grabbed me. Not only because it was in a “secular” movie, but it just gave me pause then, and did again when I read these words from Hebrews this morning:
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23, NIV)
May His Spirit help me to be unswerving.
