“Whoever loves much, does much.”
– Thomas à Kempis
WOW! What words! Especially because yesterday I received my final evaluations for student teaching and am now in the process of finishing up the final paperwork which will allow me to start applying for jobs and to be an official substitute. (Boy, that was a long sentence). Anyway, just reading those words caused me to think again of the reason I’m doing all of this: my own love for learning. I want to bring that to my students.
Just yesterday, as my mind now is reminded, I was working with a student who is struggling with math. We were working on a difficult problem and he said he couldn’t do it. Silly, persistent me. With gentleness and humor I suggested his “couldn’t” was actually a “wouldn’t”, and we spent a few minutes working together. As I slowly let his begin to work by himself, he began solving these problems on his own. He began smiling, radiating confidence. Yet, this student is no different than I am. Moving from “I can’t” or “I won’t” sometimes just takes someone with love to help us. And persistence. Imagine how much His love could do in my life and yours if we gave all of it over to Him.
Christ loves me much, let my life do much.
