“On the average, children laugh 300 times a day, adults..only 15!”
– Joann Bruso
Well, for the rest of the week I am going to be working with 5th graders so I’ll try to keep track of the laughter. For certain I know is something I could do more of. I know I for one bring the average down, well, except for when I’m in the classroom because kids can say and do the funniest things. Not even always funny, but also things that enable me to see the world in a new light. I think one of the things I say in my head most often when I’m in schools is “why didn’t I think of that?” And you know, that’s okay. Perhaps, even, the Lord delights in that.
Matthew 18:2-4
“He called a little child and had him stand among them. And he said: ‘I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.'”
When I think of children and their gift of laughter and wonder, in light of His words from Matthew, it makes me go, “Hmmm.”
