“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28, NIV).

I know this verse and have read it and have heard it… but never enough. Faith allows me to know that there is a purpose in everything, even though my limited vision can not transcend time and space to see those purposes. As I think of that, I am so very thankful that God’s grace and mercy does not allow me to see His purposes.

“Um, Keith, you’re going to have an accident today that will break your leg in four places and you will never be able to walk again without a cane. But rememeber, I love you and will use you for incredible witness that will bring immeasurable glory to Me.” Now, I just made that up, but I really don’t think I’d be too excited to get on with my day if I knew this was coming. But, as I reread that, God is requiring of me EVERY DAY to live in such a way that everything brings glory to Him. Not just with my legs or voice, but with my LIFE! MY LIFE!!! Accepting Him as my Lord and Savior meant that I would follow Him no matter the cost. I do believe these words are from one of Lori’s favorite songs by Point of Grace:

“Down any road at any cost
Wherever You lead we will follow
Because we know that You’ve called us
To take up our cross
Down any road at any cost
 
It may be fear that we’re feeling
When we see what we must sacrifice
But You promised You’ll go with us
So we’ll trust with our lives”

There can be no greater joy for me day than to know that I am living in a way that fulfills His purpose for my life because I know that that purpose is to bring Him glory.
