“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'”
My perception of darkness would probably be much different if I lived in Alaska. Here in the lower forty eight I take my daylight for granted. And when I don’t have it, I make it!
Inside the house I take turning on the light for granted. When I wake up, first thing I do? Turn on the light. When I leave the house and know it will be dark when I return? Turn on some lights. My car even turns its lights on by default. That reminds me, I’m missing a little flashlight on my keychain…for emergencies. All this and I tell myself I’m not afraid of the dark…like the small child I used to be be?
Yet how many times a day do I go or think without inviting God into the conversation? Without God in the equation my actions and thoughts are like walking around in the pitch black. I’ll bump into all sorts of things. Miss all sorts of things placed in my life by God.
I want The Light. And I also want to be His light to the world.
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16, NIV
ps…thank you for your prayers and financial assistance. Lori and I and our Pastor Chris were able to meet with Graham and Danae yesterday. What a blessing. They were so very overwhelmed by and thankful for your generosity. I am thankful the small role I was able to play in that. Thank you all for being His light for them.
