Amidst the Current of Life

4616328132-be-still“Talent develops in tranquillity, character in the full current of human life.”
– Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Today is the day my “handouts” are due to the conference organizers (the conference I’m speaking at April 6 in Portland, OR). As I race to finish them, these words from Von Goethe resonated with me. They made me stop and reflect that I’ve been caught up in the current of life. That ain’t bad in and of itself, Von Goethe would tell me.  It builds character. And I know it gives me plenty to ponder and many opportunities to see God at His best. But, what I’ve been reminded of this morning is that I need to not allow that current to keep me from moments of tranquility…quiet time.  In the quiet time with God He can bless me in revelation, confession, submission, and true jubilation.

“Be still and know that I am God.”
– Psalm 46:10

This hymn is oh so familiar and needed…
‘Be Still My Soul’, sung by Selah (one of my all-time favorite groups)…
