Yes, it is a bit late in the day to be hearing from me, but I was just reading something and figured “what the heck, why wait?”.
The article I was reading was in a blog article title “3 Simple Ways to Add Creativity to Your Web Work”. Okay, most of you don’t really care about adding creativity to your web work. In fact, maybe no one does. However, maybe your walk has stagnated or you need something to put some snap back in your talks with God.
Here it is, and I’m just gonna give you number one: “Deviate from your usual book, magazine, prayer…”
I added “prayer” and left out some other things. I believe as it applies to my walk, sometimes I need to mix it up. This notion probably falls right in line with the thought that something may strike me totally different when I’m at a different frame of mind or coming at it from a different angle.
I remember I used to read a lot of Max Lucado books. Then, somewhere, I got tired of one and haven’t read one since. That was several years ago. Maybe now, if I went back, I might find their words fresh and new. At the time, though, I needed a break… something new.
So far I haven’t reached that point with the Word. I still find my comfort in the NIV. But maybe reading The Message, or a different translation might speak to me differently. A new perspective on something familiar could be grand thing.
All that to say that I need to be creative in how I allow God to reach me. Maybe drive a different way to the same destination. Or read a different author’s viewpoint on a familiar topic. Perhaps instead of praying for the needs of others, I could focus on prayers of thanks, or the other way around.
It’s not just about stopping to smell the roses, but realizing the other flowers growing there, too.
