Our Wonder Room

His Name: Deliverer

“and in this way all Israel will be saved. As it is written: ‘The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.'”
Romans 11:26

Last night as I was sitting in church listening to the worship music, one particular song moved me. The song was ‘Deliver Me’. Sorry you don’t get to hear our worship team perform it in amazing fashion, but you can listen to The David Crowder band (on YouTube), which is the next best thing. Anyway, what a timely song for Advent. THEN, I get to my computer this morning and realize that what I had already written to share this morning for His name: Deliverer. Whoa.

Continuing on with the names of our God for this Advent season, Even since I was a young boy one of the things I looked forward to each day was the postman. I remember times when I would kneel at the front window of our house and wait for the mailman to bring the mail. It was so exciting to look and see what had come. Granted, as a small child not many things came for me, but it was still exciting.

Now, as an adult I look to my iPhone to see what email has come. Call me weird, but there is something about recieving mail that has always captured my attention and anticipation.

How much more should I be excited for THE Deliver? Christ brings the best news, the best gifts. My joy at waking up and diving into His Word should be 100 times that with which I look toward any other delivery. Not only that, I must realize that I, as His servant, am also a deliverer to my other brothers and sisters in Christ. All that Christ gives to me is given so that I may share with others, so that I may be His deliverer, sharing the Good News.
