“Tell me the picture of Jesus you have reached and I will tell you some important traits about your nature.”
–Oscar Pfister
When I read this this morning it was just kind of head-scratcher. It recalled for me Genesis 1:27, “God created man in His own image”. The God who created me gave me unique attributes of who He is. Different than you, and yet we are made by the same God.
Well, then I guess it would make sense, since we are unique reflections of who the Creator is, then our picture of the Creator would be different. Okay. Had to work that one through.
That would be an interesting concept for a painting/self-portrait…
Sad that lives are ruined because we think everyone’s portrait of Jesus should match, or more similar than they may appear. Who am I too judge?
It is also enlightening to consider that I can look at something or someone, and you could be looking at that same thing or person, and we notice different things. If we were to write down or share what we saw, we would most likely have some things in common, but some things different.
Fascinating. Okay, maybe just to me.
