Chorus from ‘What Do I Know of Holy’ by Addison Road
“What do I know of You
Who spoke me into motion?
Where have I even stood
But the shore along Your ocean?
Are You fire? Are You fury?
Are You sacred? Are You beautiful?
What do I know? What do I know of Holy?”
It’s 3:00 am (Okay it’s not 3:00am any more, but it was when I typed this on my iPhone, which is also my excuse for typos). What I am I doing up? Very good question–one that should be asked of my dog that subtly told me he needed to go out.
Anyway, God being God popped a song into my head: ‘What Do I Know of Holy?’ I’m now lying here asking myself that question. Wow! Left to my own devices how do I answer that one? First thing that popped into my head–remember, it’s 3:12 now–“warm fuzzies.” Yes, that feeling inside that I get when I do something for another out of the ordinary or above and beyond expectation. That feeling I get when I’m standing awestruck at an incredible scene in nature. That feeling when an email comes that tells me how much something I shared meant to someone. That feeling when I read Scripture and talks directly to me and where I’m at. Warm fuzzies.
What do YOU know of Holy? I wanna know because it helps me grow in my relationship with God.
Maybe now I can go back to sleep. Maybe the dog didn’t need out. Maybe God wanted my attention for a few minutes.
ps… Kenzie, thank you for sharing that song with me over a year ago.
