Our Wonder Room

The Best

“As the wicked are hurt by the best things, so the godly are bettered by the worst.”
–William Jenkyn

It is highly probably that many of us in our decision making process take time to contemplate “what is the worst thing that could happen?” I know that the WWJD thing is faddish, but I wonder how much time Jesus spent asking himself that question.

How would my day change if my question was “what is the best thing that could happen today?” I don’t know, but I think the outcome of my day would be a lot different. Paramount in that thinking is the realization that my perspective on “the best” is very distorted.

You know what would be “fun”? To keep a journal during the year of “the best thing that happened today” and look back on it after a year. Wonder how the list would transform over a year, or even over a month, or a week. It would definitely give an insight into where my priorities are.
