Our Wonder Room

Storms

Gone seem to be the days when I would get emails about my lack of email devotions going out. That is a sad thing as they were great prompts for me that I was missing out on the privilege of sharing, which it truly is. So send those emails when I need a swift kick.

Though it is too long in coming, thank you all for your thoughts and prayers after Cherri’s passing last week. It has been a much easier time for us as we still have Slic to wander the halls. When we put Huey down years ago we had no dog to distract us. We had Abby, our cat at that time, but that wasn’t the same.

Okay, now for the really good stuff. Being how the weather has changed, seemingly for the change of the season, this quote that I read this morning seems oh so appropriate:

“We are safer in the storm God sends us than in a calm when we are befriended by the world.”
Jeremy Taylor

Taylor’s words are a great reminder for me, because life is comfortable in the calm. His words also remind me of those words, “Better is one day in Your courts, than a thousand elsewhere”, Psalm 84:10.

Where are you today? Are you in the calm of the world, or in storm grasping for God’s hand. I think I’d rather be in storm, looking toward God rather than in comfort, looking away from Him. Wow! Maybe that is why my emails have been less frequent. I have been busy, but busy doing things that keep me in the calm (or chaos) of the world. Wait, am I really asking for a storm?
