Our Wonder Room

Set Your Course

“We need to learn to set our course by the stars, not by the lights of every passing ship.”
–Omar N. Bradley

What a good way to start the morning, thinking about The Star. How easy it is for me to see all the twinkling little stars and be distracted. It took me a couple times re-reading Bradley’s words to really hone in on the “set our course” part. That is really important because my walk with God has seemingly had many and blessed twists and turns without which I would not be who I am today. Seemingly random events and people and jobs and discussions that seem way off the mark at the time or in isolation. Yet they can be of use by Him as part of His bigger plan.

God will use passing ships. We’ve all looked at maps; some times the straight route is not possible. Some times the straight route is not safe. The responsibility lies with each of us, with prayer and guidance and some times divine intervention, to keep our eyes on the Him and realize when the light of the ship we are on is not God’s. Then it’s time to jump ship.
