Our Wonder Room

See the Blesson

“He knows God rightly who knows Him everywhere.”
–Meister Eckhart

If you were wondering where my emails have been, I do apologize. It isn’t that I haven’t been sending them, it is that I haven’t been writing very much. Sad, but true and hopefully with this morning’s email that will all change. Hopefully. This is a little embarrassing to admit, but I had not prayed for God to reinvigorate my desire to write, even though I could feel it waining. I have now. But enough about me.

So, reflect on those words from Eckhart for a moment or two, and then read these…

“My new word: “Blesson.” It’s when you’re able to view painful lessons as blessings. A blesson is what happens when you see the blessing in the lesson that your challenge taught you.”
–Karen Salmansohn

BlindersEach of us has surely endured what we feel to be our share of painful lessons. Lessons that either weakened our spirit, or our faith and seemed to be of little eternal value. Lessons that leave us asking, “Why God?” Were we lucky enough to have God’s omniscience we would see how every adventure, every challenge, every triumph–yes, every lesson were woven together to bring glory to our King. Yet we are as horses in a race, wearing blinders which stop us from seeing behind or to the side of us. Amidst our pain we rarely see any potential value it may have.

I like these words from J.I. Packer in his book Knowing God
“Once you become aware that the main business that you are here for is to know God, most of life’s problems fall into place of their own accord.”
— J.I. Packer

Today may you know God everywhere, including in the painful lessons you may be enduring right now. May you see them as blessons.
