Our Wonder Room

Life is Short But Wide

‘Life is Short But Wide’

That is the title of a book I saw in an email this morning. I haven’t read anything about the book, but seeing that phrase made me think of my walk with God. Or more precisely, how my walk with God should be while I am here on His earth: walking, talking or doing whatever it is I do.

Ours may be a time like none other, when there seem to be a lot of people and books out there to help us “narrow in” our lives. Be efficient. Be effective. Be focused. Help me.

Not that it’s all bad.

Yet I want to worship a God who says, “take my hand, I want you to see this”… and He whispers this amidst my self-set agenda. A self-set agenda that doesn’t take into consideration the fact that He has plans for me to prosper in unexpected ways. To experience His world, His creation. His agenda.

God is complex. At times He is black and white, and at times He is the rainbow. He demands specifics from me, from us, in many areas. And in many others He desires for us to set our plans aside and in order that we might experience His abundance.

After saying all that, I found myself looking at the word “abundant” in www.biblegateway.com, and I was led to Romans 5:12-20. What powerful words for this week:

May your day with Christ today be wide.
