His Hand

“The hand of the LORD has done this…” Job 12:9

Last week I thought I would upgrade my computer to Windows XP from an other version. Sounded simple enough and I’d done it before. But this time it didn’t go so smoothly and I spent most of the weekend trying to straighten things out. Finally got it working, and in the process I decided to streamline the number of things on this computer (well, that, and decide to not recover everything I used to have). Somehow I always seem to gather this and that as I explore the internet: a program that does this, or a game for that, a demo of something else.

Since nearly every job that I have had has involved working with computers, I long ago decided not to keep track of the number of times I have lost valuable information due to a computer crash or some other glitch. As I read the scripture above, it jumped out at me because I think my walk with God is like that. Like when I left Haggen. I was at a place where I had the opportunity to evaluate where I was and to head in a different direction. I know that God provides opportunities for me to stop, look around, and refocus on Him—throwing away things that had been accumulated.

For me, it is invaluable to realize that nothing happens without a reason. Maybe I don’t know, or don’t wanna, or am not meant to know the reason, but its there. His hand is always there… even on my computer.
