Our Wonder Room

Bring It On!

“The works of the Lord are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein. His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever. He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the Lord is gracious and full of compassion.”
–Psalm 111:2-4, The King James Version

When a year ends it seems that I spend a lot of time looking backwards, remembering. And then, boom, because the calendar flips and some ball in Times Square it suddenly happens that I begin to look forward to all the things that God will do in the new year. I’m sure that for all of you, 2007 was great in many ways, and not so great in many others. And if my prediction is right, 2008 will be great and not so great.

As the Psalmist writes, however, the works of the Lord are great and glorious. May it be that my eyes focus on those things, and with Christ’s guidance may I see 2008 and all its happenings through His eyes, as happening for His glorious purposes. Let me not be so quick to just events and situations and people and places as good or bad, sunny or overcast, better or best. Let me instead focus on knowing that God works in and through all things.

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.”
