“What I like in a good author isn’t what he says, but what he whispers.”
-Logan Pearsall Smith
Wow! I read this and thought immediately about God:
1 Kings 19:12 – After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.
Job 26:14 – “And these are but the outer fringe of his works; how faint the whisper we hear of him! Who then can understand the thunder of his power?”
Isaiah 29:4 – Brought low, you will speak from the ground; your speech will mumble out of the dust. Your voice will come ghostlike from the earth; out of the dust your speech will whisper.
In our fast-moving, media-rich world, it is so easy to let the soft voices go. Sometimes our attention can only be given to the loudest voice. And perhaps in times like these is even more important to steal away to a quite place, so we can hear ourselves think, here ourselves pray…hear God whisper.
What will God whisper to you today?
