Our Wonder Room

Bring Sight to the Blind

“There is a radiance hidden in your heart that the world desperately needs.”
–John and Stasi Eldredge

One thing led to another that led to another and I found myself watching a Dove commercial on YouTube. The power of the video comes from the reinforcement to me of the power we have to build others up. The commercial is mainly concerned with the physical appearance as we would expect from Dove. Yet, the same observation could be made of those non-physical characteristics we each have. Furthermore, each of us has the God-given ability, maybe even a responsibility, to provide for others a view they can not see of themselves…a view through God’s eyes.

My own reality is that I can be my worst critic, despite my efforts to not be. This does easily distort and impact so much of what I do and don't do and certainly builds a barrier between who I am and who God wants me to be. Wow, in reflecting on just those words I found myself reading John 9. I am so thankful for those who come, on His behalf, give a more accurate presentation to me and on my behalf. A testimony. Opening my eyes.

What if each day we looked for those opportunities to testify to someone’s goodness? There are times we are to be salt, and there are times through His grace we are to bring sight to the blind–that they might see their spiritual beauty as created by God. Sometimes we have to help others shine their light.

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
–Matthew 5:16
