“Life is truly measured not by the number of breaths taken, but by the number not taken, the occasions when breath is stopped in amazement.”
–Halford Luccock
As I finished those words I reflected on yesterday in the life of Keith Turley and I realized I missed the occasions that took my breath away. Several moments that caught my attention…but breathtaking? The type of breathtaking that makes me stop dead in my tracks and “praise God through whom all blessings flow”? With that came the realization that it was not God’s fault but my very own.
We worship an amazing God. He is amazing because in reality there isn’t a word to describe His awesomeness. That said, any day where I can look back and not see something INCREDIBLY amazing is my fault not His. I think I was just so focused on things I wanted to see that I did not see Him. No, I know I was too focused.
When was the last time you were so in awe of God that someone or something had to snap back from the “thin place”? Where God was so incredibly close that you’re saying to yourself, “someone pinch me”? May you find those times today where God is so near, so incredible, so breathtaking. So amazing. He is nothing less.
“When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by.”
–Exodus 33:22, NIV
In His grace,
Keith
