Our Wonder Room

As Friends

I wanted to share part of a poem that I read last night. This isn’t the whole poem because it is quite long:

Alas, My God, that we should be
Such Strangers to each other!
O that as Friends we might agree,
And walk and talk together!
Thou know’st, my Soul does dearly love
The Place of thine Abode;
No Music drops so sweet a Sound,
As these two Words, My God.

The words are from a poem titled ‘For Communion with God’, by Thomas Shepherd and John Mason. Oh, for this time of year when we celebrate that God came near to us.
