“Success is not the key to happiness.
Happiness is the key to success.”
– Albert Schweitzer, Nobel laureate (1875-1965)
That word “happiness” appears often when I have heard people talk about what it means to them to be successful. Okay, even me. I think for me, happiness means giving my life over to God. Yet, having said that, I know that I will never achieve 100% of that goal because I am human. So, happiness comes from finding that each day I make progress toward giving more and more of my life over to Him. Wow! No matter how I say it, there is wiggle room. How do I measure my progress, or who’s definition of progress do I use? All that said, He knows my heart, and I must trust my honesty with Him.
Ecclesiastes 2:24-26 – “A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment? To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness.”
Without Him I can find no enjoyment. I exist to glorify Him, and in that I shall find happiness.
