Our Wonder Room

Overcome

“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good”

–(Rom. 12:21).

These are familiar words, I am sure, to all of us. The challenge for me is to stop and figure out what that looks like, not in someone else’s life, in someone else’s adventures, but in my life. What will that look like not tomorrow, or what did it look like in the past.

The real challenge is what does evil look like right now. Where is the evil that I am choosing not to see, either because I blind to it or unaware? And I will never see true evil unless I am holding fast to His hand, daily, hourly, in every minute, asking Him to reveal that which keeps me from growing stronger in Him.

Only when I recognize evil can I even begin to understand Romans 12:21. And only as I give more of myself to Him can I live out those words. But I would be silly not to walk into the battle with the Armor of God. That is what spending time with Him is about: preparing for battle.

You know that cliché: be careful what you ask for? That definitely has merit when I ask God to reveal evil that I am blind to.

As scary as it sounds, I should be praying for opportunities to overcome evil. Why else am I here?

In His service,

Keith
