Our Wonder Room

Mountains

Lo, another morning when one particular song was playing loud in my head as I made that transition from sleeping to waking. How is it that in those moments before all the plans for the day start bombarding me, there can come loud some particular song? Actually, for me, it is usually part of a song because I can never (really) remember all the words.

In particular this morning was the power of this chorus:

He said that he’s forever faithful (oh i know it)
He said that he’s forever true
He said that he can move mountains
If he can move mountains
He can move my mountain, he can move your mountain too

Those words come from the song ‘I Have to Believe’ by Rita Springer. The power with which she delivers them is strong, but even stronger are the power of those words. The power of His promise. The question is am I praying that He will move my mountains? It is much easier to pray that He move your mountains. How many of my own mountains stop me from helping you move yours?

Wait! Do I even know what mountains are in front of me? Or have I been looking at them so long I can’t see them? Or have I simply chosen to ignore then; either going around them or looking for another way? Worse yet, have I denied that He will lead me beyond the mountain?

Does a mountain get taller the longer I look at it?

In His service,
Keith

Ps… you can listen to the live version (some variation from the studio version I bought on iTunes) of Rita Springer singing this song on her MySpace page (over on the right list of songs):

And here are the lyrics to the entire song:

I Have to Believe

Rita Springer

I have to believe, he sees my darkness
I have to believe, he knows my pain
I have to lift up, my hands to Worship
Worship his name

I have to declare, that he is my refuge
I have to deny, that i am alone
I have to lift up, my eyes to the mountains, thats where my help, it comes from

oh yeahhh

He said that he’s forever faithful
He said that he’s forever true
He said that he can move mountains
If he can move mountains
He can move my mountain, he can move your mountain too

I have to stand tall, when the wind blows me over
I have to stand strong, when i’m weak and afraid
I have to grab hold, a hold of the garments, the garments of praise

oh i know

He said that he’s forever faithful (oh i know it)
He said that he’s forever true
He said that he can move mountains
If he can move mountains
He can move my mountain, he can move your mountain too

I have to sing praise, when the hour is midnight
He unlocks these chains, that bind up my soul
my sin and my shame he has forgiven, and made me whole

oh yeahhhh

He said that he’s forever faithful (yeahhhh)
He said that he’s forever true
He said that he can move mountains x’s 3
If he can move mountains
He can move my mountain, he can move your mountain too (yeahhh)

i have to believe x’s 2

He’s got everything under control
I have to believe
mmmm yeah
Lord I believe, help my unbelief
I have to believe in you
I have to believe
