It was a struggle to get out of bed this morning. Partly because I was, well, tired. And partly because I wanted to come up with something related to this day, Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday.
One of the things that I kept going back to was part of the “I Have A Dream” speech. This part in particular –
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation
where they will not be judged by the color of their skin
but by the content of their character.”
I picture in my head the little cut-out paper hands that I helped 1st graders paste onto paper last Friday. Did they really know the symbolism? Could they know? DO I KNOW? Was it just a cute exercise, or was it more than that for me?
What is the content of my character?
