This morning I was driving through the darkness to a client’s office to get some work done. As I drove down one of the streets, the car in front of me began to break. There was no car in front of him so I was a bit confused. Didn’t he know I had places to be? Let’s go. Let’s go. Then, as I sa there, I saw the silhouettes of two deer come out to front left of his car and make their way across the street.
Nearly instantly I forgot about where I was going. I forgot about the city lights that surrounded me, the concrete pathways, the houses and the makings of “my world”. In the moments after I first saw those deer, I was humbled that this is not my world. It is God’s world. His creation. I can get so caught up in the mechanisms and pace of my surrounds. Those deer physically slowed me down, and they mentally and spiritually transported me to a different frame of thought.
Today, may you find yourself being drawn to His creation. May you find something that draws you to His beauty.
“Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything beautiful. Beauty is God’s handwriting.”
