“Stop saying ‘no’ for other people.”
— Jeff Goins
Recently I started reading the blog of another writer, Jeff Goins. In one of his recent posts he had the above sentence, which is a great inspiration for other writers. But I’m not sharing it for other writers. I’m sharing it because it is great for disciples of God.
How rich would my reward in heaven be if I stop saying “no” for other people?
– “Excuse me, do you need help with that?”
– “Do you have time to help me with this?”
– “What do you think, will this work?”
– “Do you want to pray about that?”
Why is it so easy for me to say “no” for other people, and even God. To keep from them the opportunity to say yes. So easy to make an assumption on their behalf based on my thoughts, my feelings, or what I would do or say? Or maybe I want them to say no so that I can stay in my comfort zone. I don’t have to take any action or risk. Or any responsibility.
So, I just looked at my Facebook cover image that I created yesterday, and it has these words…
“Only those who attempt the absurd will achieve the impossible.” — M. C. Escher
God wants for each of us a life of abundance. We can go a long way towards experiencing that abundance, experiencing the impossible, when we stop saying “no” for people.
What if God had said “no” for me?
In His service,
Keith
