“You may get to the very top of the ladder, and then find it has not been leaning against the right wall.”
— A. Raine
One of the things that I find most interesting about the general election is that no matter who wins (or who won) and what promises they make, the way things actually work out in the years to come could be far from what the candidate represented. There are just way too many things outside of their control, outside of their known factors for doing the job of leading this country.
So, this morning, and actually for probably the last month, I have been finding more and more comfort in one thing: God.
God does not change. The leadership of this country will change. God will not.
In the words of Raine above, I am pretty darn sure that God’s ladder is leaning against the right wall. Do I know where Obama’s ladder is leaning, or even McCain’s? Well, I know what they said or what I heard, but how much can I cling to that in reality?
Only with God are all things possible. I wonder if Obama included God in his “yes we can”. How many of us do on a daily, hourly basis?
A number of years ago, Nicole C. Mullen put out a song titled, ‘I am’. This morning that is where I find my comfort on this ladder.
