“Knowledge is the small part of ignorance that we arrange and classify.”
— Ambrose Bierce
For whatever reason, that quote from a devotion this morning caught my eye. Maybe because I know my knowledge is small and my ignorance large. Or maybe I laugh at the “arrange and classify” part.
Seriously, God gives to each of us what we can handle (and, no, it doesn’t always seem like that)… 1 Corinthians 10:13. Contextually there is no reference to knowledge, but it is an interesting stretch. Perhaps He only gives me knowledge and insight as far as I can grasp. If He gave me more I would definitely be overwhelmed. Similarly, maybe He gives me little bits and pieces before He gives (or doesn’t give) me bigger things.
