Our Wonder Room

Running Water

“Men cannot see their reflection in running water, but only in still water.”
-Chuang Tzu, philosopher (c. 4th century BCE)

As I read those words this morning I got to thinking about those words from Psalm 23. I wanted to get a better grasp on the issue with the still/quiet water. Then something hit me, if I cannot see my reflection in running water, I will not be able to see His either (not that He needs water in order to show me His reflection). But in addition, I tried to think back to the physics of running water and thought about all the pressure and turbulence that it is under. It’s pretty hard for me to see Him when I’m worried about too many other things. Slooooow down. Focus. Listen. See.

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

Thank you your help yesterday in shedding light on my own understanding. It is wonderful to get a new perspective on His Word through His earthly saints.
