“Make people wish the gospel were true … and then show them that it is.”
— Blaise Pascal
First off, I wanted to thank all of you who sent me notes last week. That was incredibly moving and encouraging. I had meant to say that last week, but let other things take priority. Then, as I process the quote above this morning… BAM! If I had to describe the “mission” of why I send out my emails, it is to show people that the Gospel is true. Mainly I try to do that by sharing how I see God alive and wanting to connect with me. He wants each of us know that He is with us every moment of every day, whether we are looking for Him or not.
Last week, in fact the evening of the morning I sent a message out about timing, I went to a meeting of writers here in Bellingham. As I sat there and the meeting began, I really was questioning why I was there. It just did not seem like it was going to be a well spent 2 hours. But I was so wrong. God was so right. An individual came and sat at my table and we talked and I left the meeting knowing that God wanted me at that meeting not because of the topic of the meeting, but to connect with this one person. It was such a powerful example of God’s timing. How many times do I end up in a place and think, “God, why did you want me here?” And how many times do I walk away amazed that God met me in that unexpected place? There are no accidental encounters.
He is TRUE. If we are willing, He is able.
Luke 24:25 – “How foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!”
I’ll tell you all more about the person I met at the meeting later. INCREDIBLE!
