Reflections on Finding God

His Name: Gentle Whisper

“After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.”
1 Kings 19:12

My body is wired, at least up to this point, to be one that is early-to-bed and early-to-rise. Sometimes though that gets thrown way off and I have found myself unable to get back to sleep at some insane hour of the morning, like 2:15 when I originally wrote this.

What I have found, however, is that sometimes the very reason that I am unable to fall back to sleep is that I am not meant to be asleep. God is the “gentle whisper” that encourages me to act upon the restlessness and perhaps spend time with Him. No earthquake or fire needed.

ps… maybe I couldn’t sleep in anticipation of sharing your blessings with Graham and Danae Johnson later this morning. Through this adventure God has grown me in ways I never expected. He was the “Gentle Whisper” that started this, and boy has He revealed His glory.
