“Now is the time…”
— Dr. Martin Luther Jr.
I woke up this morning with a bit of a start. Not a cold sweat, but with a noodling in my mind. Without going in to details I fast forward about 10 minutes from getting out of bed, to getting to my computer. One of the first things that pops on to my screen is a Google search page upon which I see an image. Good old Google, changing their search page banner every day. The image was one that didn’t register with me which usually means I ignore it. Not this morning. Click.
Today is the anniversary of Martin Luther King’s speech that has become known as the “I Have a Dream” speech. It was fifty years ago today the March on Washington occurred.
My two worlds collided. The not understanding fully the noodling, and then God answering.
What are my dreams? My goals?
What would be my “I Have A Dream” speech and what am I doing to bring my footsteps closer to its reality? It is a question each of us needs to answer. The actions of this day should, in some way, take me closer to that destination which I hope is nearer to the hand of the Creator.
And here is the full text to King’s speech if you care to read along with the video below.
